Facts About Mont Blanc (France) For Kids

Basic Information and Location

Mont Blanc, standing proudly between France and Italy, is the highest mountain in Western Europe — it’s like stacking 1,500 school buses on top of each other!

Mont Blanc’s name means “White Mountain” in French because its peak is always covered in bright white snow, even during summer!

Mont Blanc reaches an impressive height of 15,774 feet (4,809 meters), which is so high that the air at the top contains only half the oxygen found at sea level — it’s like trying to breathe through a straw!

The first time anyone reached Mont Blanc’s summit was in 1786, when two brave climbers named Jacques Balmat and Dr. Michel-Gabriel Paccard made the incredible journey!
