History & Development

Humans have been using wind power for over 5,000 years, starting with simple sailboats in ancient Egypt!

The first windmills were built in Persia (modern-day Iran) around 500-900 AD and were used to grind grain into flour!

Dutch windmills, which became famous in the 1500s, were so powerful they could pump water out of lowland areas to create new farmland!
