Basic Information

The scientific name for these tiny air sacs in your lungs is “alveoli” (pronounced al-VEE-oh-lie), and just one is called an “alveolus”!

Alveoli are located deep inside your lungs at the end of tiny tubes called bronchioles, like bunches of grapes at the end of stems!
