Deep down in the shimmering blue ocean, there lived a little mermaid named Aria. She had the most beautiful voice in all the sea, and she loved to sing with the dolphins and play with the fish. But Aria had a secret dream—she longed to explore the world above the waves. Every day, she would swim to the surface and watch the humans on their big ships, fascinated by their world.
One day, Aria’s curiosity grew so strong that she made a daring decision. She visited the sea witch, an old creature who had the power to grant wishes. Aria told the sea witch, “I want to be part of the human world. I want legs so I can walk on land!”
The sea witch grinned slyly. “I can give you legs, but in return, you must give me your voice,” she said. Aria hesitated. She loved her voice, but her desire to live among the humans was too strong. Finally, she agreed. The sea witch cast her spell, and suddenly, Aria’s tail transformed into legs. But when she tried to speak, no sound came out. She had lost her voice.
Excited yet nervous, Aria swam to the shore and stepped onto the land. Everything felt so new and thrilling—the sand between her toes, the wind in her hair. She wandered into a human village, where she met a kind prince. The prince liked Aria’s gentle nature, but without her voice, she found it hard to share her thoughts and feelings.
At first, Aria enjoyed the adventure, but as time passed, she began to feel lonely. She missed her voice, the one thing that made her unique. She realized that by giving up her voice, she had lost a part of herself. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t fully be herself without it.
One day, as she watched the sun setting over the ocean, Aria understood something important: she didn’t need to change herself to fit in. She didn’t need legs or to live on land to be happy. What mattered most was staying true to who she really was. With that thought, Aria returned to the sea, where she could sing freely once more, proud to be herself.
Moral:
Be true to yourself.
Parenting Tip: Encourage your child to embrace their unique qualities and remind them that it’s okay to be themselves, just like Aria the mermaid. Teach them that changing who they are to fit in may not always lead to happiness.
