Once upon a sunny day, a clever crow spotted a delicious piece of cheese on the ground. Excited, he picked it up and flew up to a tall tree to enjoy his tasty treat. As he settled on a branch, a sly fox wandered by and saw the crow with the cheese.

“Oh, what a magnificent bird you are!” said the fox, his voice smooth and sweet like honey. “Your feathers are so shiny, and I bet you have a beautiful singing voice. Would you please sing for me?”

The crow, feeling flattered and proud, thought, “I do have lovely feathers!” Wanting to show off, he opened his beak to sing. But as soon as he did, the cheese slipped from his beak and fell right into the fox’s waiting mouth!

The crafty fox devoured the cheese with a satisfied grin and walked away, leaving the crow feeling sad and foolish. He learned an important lesson that day: not to trust those who flatter him.
