The Bundle of Sticks

Share Story

In a peaceful little village, a wise father watched as his sons quarreled and bickered all the time. He knew they needed to learn a valuable lesson about teamwork. So, one day, he brought home a big bundle of sticks and said, “Can you break this?”

The brothers, full of confidence, rushed to try. They pulled and tugged with all their strength, but no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t break the bundle! They looked at their father, puzzled and frustrated.

Smiling softly, the father then took one stick from the bundle and handed it to each son. “Now, let’s see how you do with just one stick,” he said. One by one, the brothers snapped their sticks in half without any effort at all!

The father gathered the broken pieces and said, “You see? Together, you are strong. Alone, you are weak.” The boys looked at each other, understanding the lesson their father was trying to teach them.

From that day on, the brothers decided to work together, supporting one another instead of fighting. They learned that by joining forces, they could achieve so much more.
